Dorothy J. Washington entered into rest on January 22, 2023 in the care of her son Clifford and Aleta McDowell and Niagara Hospice.

Born in Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Virginia (Kirkland) McDowell.

Dorothy was employed with HANCI, where she was a foster grandmother and senior companion. She loved attending church, where she was an evangelist and missionary.

Beloved mother of Clifford (Aleta) McDowell, Lamont (Carmilla) Washington, Kurtis Washington, Rashell Washington, Nidrell Washington, the late Marie Nicole McDowell; cherished grandmother of Clifford (Tiffane) Jr., Ashely, Cordell, Ceion, Aleah McDowell, and Reaquin Lee, Rahleque Young; great-grandmother of Markaija, Markayla and Makenzie Ming, Ca'Meron, McDowell, Chase Carr, Angel Villafane, Morgan McDowell, and the late Ca'Layah McDowell; dear sister of Henry McDowell, Sidney (Earlin) McDowell, Ernestine Maxwell, Eugene McDowell and the late Roy McDowell, Armie Lee Brown, Ledrose McDowell, Donnie Mae Patterson, Ella Mae McDowell, Willie McDowell, and the late Sarah Price; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 2-5pm at the Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home, 70 Niagara Street and on Monday, January 30, from 11:00 - 12:00 pm at Refuge Temple of Christ, 15 Cottage Street, Lockport, where the funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm.

    I loved my Aunt Dot I will miss her so very much along with all the others I’ve lost…She was a beautiful beautiful person and a Angel on this earth!

    This time of year is da worst mom I love n miss you so much I do my best everyday not to be angry cuz u raised me different but it’s so hard. I love you more than anything in dis world. Rest peacefully❤️
