Bill and I, as teachers, had a summer painting business. Painting was not fun but visiting the DRI most days after work was great! Kate and I also enjoyed the company of Bill, Marilyn and their children on weekends. Fun times!

    Mrs Donovan and family,
Please accept my deepest condolences. Words cannot do justice to describe the sorrow felt with the loss of Mr. Donovan. He has as such a special place in my heart from being a former teacher, stellar coach, mentor, and friend. His infectious smile, laughter, and brilliant sense of humor is something that lights up my memories of him. I’m grateful to have known him for so long and to have spent time with such a generous man I also called my friend.

Bill was my classmate at St. Joes and a more affable chap could not be found. A fine athlete and true friend, his engaging smile and willingness to help were integral to his character. I hold fond memories of our days together and extend sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. Live Jesus in our hearts, forever.

Bill and I were good friends and fellow football players at St Joe’s. He was an outstanding athlete and a great guy. I remember Bill playing injured during the Canisius game our senior year. He had injured his shoulder and wore a brace which limited his mobility but he still played a great game. My sympathy to Bill’s family and friends. God bless you all. Marilyn – you have our deepest sympathy for your loss. I always had a problem with remembering Bill’s name. When I’d see him at the Lodge, I’d call him Mr. Marilyn and he’d smile. When I told my son Eric (Sommers), he asked me to let you know he would be praying for your strength during this time of sorrow. Kevin and I will also pray for the repose of his soul.

    Mrs. Donovan and family,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. Mr. D had a profound impact on my life and career and it all started with his teaching how important the words William Shakespeare used in his works. May your memories sustain you in these tough days. May he rest in peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him.

I just would like to give my condolences to the family. Also, would like to say how much I appreciated Mr. Donovan for being a teacher and a coach . I guess we don’t really realize how much someone affects your life until they are gone. I always appreciated him! He always had a smile on his face no matter where I ran into him. He would always take the time to reminisce about the old days, I guess that’s what memories are made of. Let me end by saying I had a lot of good memories. God bless you and your family.. ( Class of 1974 )

I remember Dr. Donovan as a wonderful teacher who knew when and how to have fun in the classroom. He was stern but fair on the field as a coach. We would run into one another over the years and always had fun conversation. I enjoyed reconnecting during the alumni games. Condolences to Mr. Donovan’s family, he was a fine and wonderful man.
